Our Story
Made in Perth by Lee and Sandy
Sage Decor Studio began in 2025 as a new creative chapter for husband-and-wife team Lee and Sandy Hayter.
After more than 30 years running his own floor and wall tiling business, Lee was looking for a gentler way to continue working with his hands. His experience with materials, finishes and fine detail found a new outlet in Jesmonite and candle making. Today, he mixes, pours, sands and finishes each piece by hand in their Perth studio.
Sandy had also spent more than 30 years working in administration. She brought the organisation and customer care needed to turn Lee’s creative idea into a working studio, and keeps everything running behind the scenes as they develop the Sage collection together.
The range now includes beautifully scented professional-grade soy wax candles, decorative trays, storage pieces and playful home décor. Everything is handmade in small batches, with care taken at every stage.

Why Jesmonite?
Jesmonite is a water-based, non-solvent material used to create decorative objects. It takes colour and fine detail beautifully, making it ideal for Sage’s smooth finishes, bold colour combinations and marbled effects.
Each piece begins as a liquid mixture that Lee colours, pours, cures, sands and finishes by hand. Small air bubbles and subtle variations in colour or pattern can naturally occur, giving every handmade piece its own character.
Our Jesmonite homewares are created for decorative use and are not intended for direct contact with food or liquids.
